Battlefield 2042 should finally get a long-awaited feature – but it will be postponed again

After the plan for March was presented last week, Battlefield 2042 actually wanted to bring a scoreboard by the end of January. According to the developer DICE, this has now shifted. It was revealed when the feature that fans have been asking for since the release should come.

What’s it all about? Along with numerous other features missing from older spin-offs, the Scoreboard is perhaps what has been most clamored for by veterans and fans alike since the release of Battlefield 2042.

There was a real fan uprising back then to put pressure on DICE and bring the feature right after release. A number of fan designs made the rounds and were intended to “show DICE how it’s done”. Now, almost two and a half months later, there is still no scoreboard.

While the list of missing features has grown by now, the scoreboard has become a symbol of Battlefield 2042’s fall in the eyes of many fans.

DICE actually wanted to change that and already deliver the feature in the January 19 update. But there it was also missing and should actually come in February with patch 3.2. But now this update has been postponed again, which means that the scoreboard is again a long time coming.

Battlefield 2042 postpones Scoreboard for the 2nd time, now slated to come in March

When will the scoreboard finally come? According to the Battlefield account on Twitter, the scoreboard will be brought into play with the already announced next update 3.2 in early March.

In the meantime, according to DICE, the feature has been revised again and shows more features. A screenshot from the Twitter account already featured an early version of it:

What should the scoreboard offer? The screenshot reveals some features of the scoreboard:

  • Game overview
  • Player and bot lists
  • player info
  • Progress in awards
  • Active players and squad members
  • Scores broken down into overall scores, kills, revives, captures, etc.

Ultimately, this should give players a better overview of their performance and what is happening in a game. However, there may still be some changes until March, you do not see the final version of the feature here.

As expected, the reactions to the renewed postponement were negative. Numerous players are increasingly losing patience with Battlefield 2042. They criticize that many of the planned updates should already be in the game. (via reddit)

By the time the scoreboard comes out in March, three and a half months have already passed and so far there have been no updates that could improve the mood in the community.

It remains to be seen if this will improve with the upcoming updates.

It’s not just the updates that have been postponed either. The first season, which was supposed to start at the end of 2022, was also postponed until summer.

This further worsened the mood of the players, many were hoping for new content that could make the game a little more interesting for them.

In return, the developers promised not to give up on Battlefield 2042 despite the messed-up start and to do everything they could to implement player feedback and save the shooter.

But how do you see it? Do you think DICE can still save the game? Are you currently still playing Battlefield 2042?

By the way: In addition to DICE, Electronic Arts has also commented on Battlefield 2042 – that’s what they say
