The writers wanted more of a character out of Spider-Man No Way Home

Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, screenwriters of Spider-Man: No Way Home, have revealed that they intended to bring one of the surprise characters that appears in the MCU film more on screen. Beware, SPOILERS ahead!

Although the appearance of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in Spider-Man: No Way Home became Hollywood’s worst kept secret, there were other appearances and highlights in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie yes they were quite a surprise.

Undoubtedly One of the most memorable appearances in Spider-Man: No Way Home is that of Charlie Cox playing Matt Murdock again., better known as Daredevil, whose character we hadn’t seen since Netflix canceled the series.

His appearance takes place shortly after the beginning of the film, where the lawyer offers his services to help and defend Peter Parker / Spider-Man against the charges that accuse him of being a murderer and having killed Mysterio at the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home.

If you like series like Friends, The Sopranos or Game of Thrones, HBO Max has these and many more in its catalog.

Although the scene was great, Daredevil’s appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home was very rare, leaving fans wanting more (since we didn’t even get to see Murdock decked out in his superhero uniform).

However, there were originally plans to have more screen time for the character. At least that is what they have commented on in a recent interview (via Comic Book) Chris McKenna Y Erik Sommers, writers of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

McKenna confirmed that during the scripting process there were several ideas about how Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock could influence the movie Spider-Man: No Way Home. But in the end, everyone agreed that it was best to limit Daredevil’s role in the film to keep the focus on Peter Parker’s story.

That was the challenge with this movie in bringing in all these other characters. We love these characters, and you’d love to see them do all sorts of things. But the question is, what is there room for?“, he commented.

I could see any of these characters that we brought in just make a completely different movie on their own or in some different combination, but we have to ultimately serve the story of our Peter Parker and our Spider-Man. No matter how tempting…“added the writer.

Once we knew we were going to have Matt Murdock, it was like, ‘He could do this, he could do that, that would be great, wouldn’t that be great?’ But ultimately, we always had to go back on a lot of things to make sure we kept our focus.” he concluded.
