If you don’t use your DualSense on the PS5, you should be happy about this leak

Sony’s DualSense controller can only be updated with the latest firmware updates on a PS5, but maybe elsewhere soon.

Most PS5 controller owners probably use it on a PS5. After all, it is one of the best arguments for Sony’s current console. But you can also use the DualSense pusher on your PC or on your mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets.

But then there is a catch: In order to update the firmware of the controller, you must connect it to a PS5. But that could change soon, as this leak here suggests.

DualSense controller could finally get updates on PC and mobile

That’s what it’s about: The DualSense controller works great on the PC and is of course ideal for playing PlayStation titles such as God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Days Gone or PS Now on the computer. Unfortunately, there is no way to update the thing on the PC – firmware updates have only been possible on the PS5 so far.

Leak indicates the end: This annoying circumstance could finally come to an end soon. Sony has apparently leaked a license agreement itself, according to which DualSense can also be updated without a PS5. There is no public announcement about this and the text has since been deleted, but apparently there is at least one corresponding innovation being planned.

Along with this, Sony could also directly provide more extensive and better PC support for the DualSense controller.

In addition to the lack of an update option, there are still other technical difficulties. Some games and launchers do not recognize the PS5 controller, the button symbols are usually not displayed and the special features such as haptic feedback and adaptive triggers only come into their own in exceptional cases.

More news:

Appropriate support in games is of course not solely in Sony’s hands, but would also have to be implemented by the respective developers. But if you can get the drivers and tools you need, things should get a whole lot easier.

Do you use a DualSense controller anywhere other than on a PS5 and if so, how satisfied are you?
