New anime MMORPG starts its beta in April – How to participate
Tower of Fantasy is a new MMORPG coming to PC and Mobile. Visually, it is somewhat reminiscent of a mixture of Genshin Impact and the highly anticipated Blue Protocol. The game is scheduled to be released in the west in 2022 and will start a closed beta beforehand. That will start in April.
What is this beta? The Tower of Fantasy closed beta is only available in the US, Canada, UK and Germany. It begins on April 19, although there is currently no exact time.
However, all content of the MMORPG should be playable in the beta. It is currently unclear whether there will be a German localization at all and whether this is included in the beta. Publisher in the west is Perfect World, which is responsible for Star Trek Online and Neverwinter in the west, among other things, both of which offer at least German text.
How do you get into the beta? The official registration for the beta expired a few days ago. We already reported on this at the beginning of March.
However, keys are repeatedly raffled off via the Discord account and on social media. If you are interested in the game, you should keep your eyes open there (via Discord).

Tower of Fantasy does without classes, presents characters of the game world in detail
What kind of game is this? Tower on Fantasy is an anime MMORPG. It is Free2Play and implemented in the Unreal Engine 4.
In the game you explore a completely open game world with your character, apart from the dungeons. You can design this character according to your wishes. The game dispenses with fixed classes, instead the weapon and armor determine the play style.

Tower of Fantasy developers are always emphasizing their NPC characters, who are each said to have their own personality. On the Twitter account you can already find several presentations of these NPCs, in which dates of birth, character traits and appearance play a role.
When is the game out? Tower of Fantasy was released in China at the end of 2021 and is scheduled for release in Germany in 2022. There is no exact release date yet.
Release in China was bumpy
How is Tower of Fantasy doing so far? In the Chinese version, players gave Tower of Fantsy only 3.6 out of 5 stars from 79,000 reviews (via Tap Tap). However, the ratings of the last 7 days were slightly higher with an average of 4.2 stars.
Criticisms are:
- The difficult start, which is said to have led to constant server failures
- The high memory consumption and the high demands on smartphones
- The rather weak hit feedback
- There is a gacha system on weapons from 1 to 5 stars that doesn’t go over so well because the chances for high weapons are said to be very low
However, there is praise for:
- The story and atmosphere of the game
- Changing and dyeing pieces of gear
- Lots of endgame content
- Regular updates and many bug fixes that have recently been deployed
