Players in FIFA 22 mourn their great Bayern cards – Over 200,000 coins lost

FC Bayern Munich has been kicked out of the Champions League. Also in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team, this has implications for some fans.

This was going on in real football: On Tuesday evening, April 12, FC Bayern Munich surprisingly said goodbye to the Champions League.

After the German record champions had already lost 1-0 to Spanish FC Villareal in the first leg, the 1-1 draw in the second leg was not enough to advance to the next round.

Although Robert Lewandowksi had still provided the lead for Bayern, which would have been enough for the extra time. But a second hit to turn the tide just didn’t want to fall – on the contrary. Samu Chukwueze completed a counterattack to make it 1-1 shortly before the final whistle – which eliminated the Munich team from the competition.

This is also noticeable in FIFA 22: Because two expensive, strong Bayern cards in Ultimate Team were directly linked to the result of the game.

Bayern’s RTTF maps in FIFA 22 crash

These are the cards: In Ultimate Team there are so-called “Road-to-the-Final” maps. These cards get better and better as the player’s team advances in the real-world Champions League. Bayern has two pieces: Corentin Tolisso and Lucas Hernández.

While both cards are strong, much of their high price comes from the prospect of more upgrades. Many players had seen Bayern as favorites against Villareal – and now have to accept a big drop in value.

The prices on the PlayStation transfer market currently look like this (via futbin):

• Tolisso’s card cost around 280,000 coins at its peak and plummeted to around 210,000 coins just after the first leg. Since leaving, however, it is now only 74,000 coins (as of April 13, 2022).
• Hernández even cost over 700,000 coins at one point, then dropped to around 500,000. After last night’s bust it is now “only” 230,000 coins.

In both cases, it could be that the prices will rise again in the next few days – after all, they are still good cards – but the shock of defeat put a heavy damper on the prices.

Some players who grabbed the cards also complain:

• “And suddenly, just like that, I have food rated 90,” writes a user on the FIFA subreddit (via reddit). In FIFA, “feed” refers to players who no longer make it into their own team, but are only used as material for squad building challenges.
• “For me, he went straight to the Lahm SBC,” writes another user (via reddit). It was just unlocked as part of the FUT Captain event.
• “Literally the only damn RTTF card I had was Tolisso. And Bayern managed to lose. I didn’t even check the score at halftime so I couldn’t sell to the 1-0 hype,” writes user akira136 (via reddit).

At the same time, there is criticism that FC Villareal, on the other hand, did not receive any RTTF card from EA – even though the club was able to eliminate Juventus Turin during the current Champions League season.
