Pokémon GO: That's how rare Riolu really is in the 2 km eggs at the spring event

In Pokémon GO is currently running the Spring Event and brings you changed content in the 2km Eggs. Now trainers on reddit show how rare the best Pokémon from these eggs really are. We at MeinMMO have looked at it and will show it to you.

What Pokemon is it about? The spring event has been running in Pokemon GO since April 12th. In addition to some new spawns and the wild and the new legendary raid boss Tapu-Toro, you can also come across changed content in 2 km eggs.

These include disguised Pokémon such as Togepi with a wreath of flowers, but also rare specimens such as Riolu. The event has been going on for some time now, and many Trainers have been busy hatching Event Eggs. Now they share their experiences on reddit and show how often they really got Riolu from the 2 km eggs.

Chances of getting Riolu from the Spring Event Eggs

As the reddit user GothamReigns reports in his reddit post, he has now hatched 206 2 km event eggs and shows a statistic of how these are distributed among the individual Pokémon. He also recorded the frequency of shinys. His odds were as follows (via reddit.com):

Pokemon hatched rate
azurill 39x 18.93%
Fluffyuff 39x 18.93%
Pichu 38x 18.45%
Munch fax 31x 15.05%
togepi 18x 8.74%
delightira 13x 6.31%
Owei 11x 5.34%
Riolu 9x 4.37%
ding plim 8x 3.88%

From these hatched Pokémon, he was able to secure a total of 4 Shinys: a Fluffleuff, Pichu, Togepi and Riolu.

Is there more data? Other trainers also share similar results in the comments. They also captured the monsters from the 2km eggs and show how often they got Riolu. So DaybreakHorizon could look forward to 2 Riolu from a total of 54 hatched eggs (via reddit.com). This corresponds to a rate of around 3.7%.

Other coaches, on the other hand, were less fortunate when it came to Riolu. So YesilFasulye couldn’t secure a single Riolu out of 60 eggs. The same goes for Own_Fortune_6940, which hatched 18 2km eggs (via reddit.com).

Monsters such as Azurill, but also Munchlax and Pichu were often included in the reports from these trainers. Besides Klingplim, Riolu is the rarest Pokémon from the event eggs. This is also indicated by Niantic’s overview of the probabilities that you will find under the 2 km eggs. So when hatching, you’ll mostly have chances of Azurill, Fluffeluff, and Pichu.

Are the 2km eggs with Riolu even worth it?

Even though Riolu is very rare to find in these eggs at the moment, you should still take the opportunity. The fighting Pokémon is the pre-evolution of Lucario, which is one of the 10 best fighting attackers in Pokémon GO.

Riolu can usually only be obtained from 10km Eggs. So the event eggs are a good opportunity to secure yourself a Riolu or two. In addition, the hatching distance is reduced at the moment.

So you only have to walk 1 kilometer to hatch a 2 km egg with a normal incubator. So you can hatch significantly more eggs in a short time than is otherwise the case with the 10 km eggs. So you have more chances to meet one during the event.

What do you think of the current Spring Event 2km Eggs? Have you secured a Riolu yet? And did it maybe even work out with a shiny? Tell us about your experiences here on MeinMMO and exchange ideas with other trainers in the comments.
