Battlefield 2042 – Is this the salvation? Update 4.0 delivers over 400 changes

The classes in BF 2042 are once again being revised.

The classes in BF 2042 are once again being revised.

EA admitted at the beginning of the year that the launch of Battlefield 2042 was messed up. But despite all the problems and dwindling user numbers, the publisher wants to hold on to the shooter and pull it out of the swamp bit by bit.

The long-promised scroreboard finally appeared with patch 3.3, along with various other innovations and improvements. Update 4.0 should go much further and give Battlefield 2042 a fresh boost.

On Twitter, DICE gives us a glimpse of what awaits us next week.

That’s in Battlefield 2042 Update 4.0

“Over 400 custom bug fixes and Quality of Life improvements”, promises community manager Kevin Johnson. Unfortunately, a complete list of all patch notes is not yet available – it will follow early next week – but we can already see some of the most important changes in the Twitter feed:

  • With Update 4.0, Rao and Paik will receive an update to their traits.
  • Sundance has received some fixes to their grenade belt, allowing for better targeting with anti-tank grenades in their immediate area.
  • Vehicle fights are getting a balance, in addition to targeted tweaks like the bolte to ensure infantry/vehicle counters still have bite.
  • Fixes for the ADS error when exiting a vehicle or reviving near obstacles are also included in this update.
  • Attachments are also getting an overhaul in Update 4.0, with a focus on making sure they feel unique and impact your loadout and gunplay.

What’s next for Battlefield 2042?

Almost half a year after the launch of Battlefield 2042, we’re still waiting for Season 1 to begin. According to DICE, the starting shot should be waited until everything in the game is going well. Will this be the case after the upcoming update? Who knows, 400 innovations is a good prospect, but it can still take a good while until summer. When the time comes, a new season will start every three months, each with fresh characters, maps and weapons.

Do you think DICE and EA can still save Battlefield 2042?
