In Destiny 2, the Gjallarhorn dominates all activities – is that why the nerf is coming soon?

For Season 16 in Destiny 2, the current weapon meta has crystallized quite well. The players have found their clear and strong favorites, which are equipped almost without exception for every activity. But that’s exactly what Bungie sees. MeinMMO has therefore looked at which of your favorite weapons could soon be the focus of a nerf.

In Destiny 2, the keepers quickly have clear favorites for weapons every new season.

However, it wasn’t that bad: The Gjallarhorn came back into play for Bungie’s 30th Anniversary Event. At least nowadays you can participate in activities in Destiny 2 without owning the Gjallarhorn.

Nevertheless, the relaunched Exotic is present a little too often in all activities and this could possibly soon be the undoing of the Exotic Rocket Launcher.

The Gjallarhorn could hit the next nerf

Look the current statistics in the Warmind On Destiny’s statistical memory, it actually doesn’t look good for the future of the exotic rocket launcher Gjallarhorn:

• The rocket launcher is used by 51% of players in dungeons in the hard slot.
• Additionally, the Gjallarhorn is used by 52% of players in Trials of Osiris.
• In the “Apprentice’s Oath” raid, 67% of the keepers did not want to do without the exotic.
• 66% of Gambit playersalso invaders, use the weapon for the heavy slot.
• And a whopping 71% of players like to point their Gjallarhorn at enemies at dusk.

The usage rate of the weapon is therefore remarkably high and for many, there is understandably no better alternative at the moment.

Even the best alternative is a copy of the Gjallarhorn: The legendary and craftable Palmyra-B rocket launcher doesn’t even make it to a 20% usage rate in the various activities.

It could even be possible that he also indirectly benefits from the Gjallarhorn through the “Pack Hunter” perk. With this, an equipped Gjallarhorn is enough to give all nearby allies pack missiles for their own non-exotic rocket launchers as well. This then transforms them into a small version of the powerful icon.

It is also interesting to take a look at the other top weapons in the primary and energy slots. Here, the usage rates are also high, but still rather mixed. Especially not nearly as dominant as the Gjallarhorn or the Funnel Net MP.

• The submachine gun “Funnel Web” has a usage rate of about 40% in Gambit, followed by the legendary glaive “Enigma” with only 19%.
• There is even more diversity in the primary slot. Here 26% of the players in the raid like to use the grenade launcher “Drought Collector” or with 15% the exotic submachine gun “Osteo Striga”.
• In Gambit, the Krait Auto Rifle dominates the primary slot at 25%.

None of these usage rates even remotely match what is seen on the Gjallarhorn. The guardians are obviously reluctant to put the exotic power weapon down.

Why is the weapon so popular? The reason for this popularity is simple. The Gjallarhorn is currently simply an all-rounder.

His ability to launch missiles that then “fragment” into smaller, homing missiles is still strong in Destiny 2. Not only does the Rocket Launcher do a lot of damage to bosses, it’s also a good anti-champion weapon and is also great for mob clearing. Even the protective shield of a glaive doesn’t stop the Gjallarhorn, its seeking pack projectiles flying unerringly around it.

The catalyst makes the Gjallarhorn indispensable: The weapon becomes even more powerful with the Catalyst that can be earned in Destiny 2. This allows the Gjallarhorn to reload faster and spawns additional more powerful missiles when your pack missiles kill an enemy. In addition, the magazine size increases to 2 rockets. Even the exotic rocket launcher “Eyes of Tomorrow” from the “Deepstone Crypt” raid can no longer keep up.

In the meantime, the “Gjally”, as the Guardians affectionately call the rocket launcher, has become the best boss and invader weapon and even ranks in the top 3 for boss damage.

Bungie certainly didn’t miss this: There is basically no reason not to use this exotic rocket launcher. And that could mean a nerf to the iconic Gjallarhorn, because Bungie isn’t blind. All the dominant and much too popular weapons have had to endure nerfs so far, most recently the Raid Exotic Vex Mythoclast. It is quite possible that the weapon is already on the list for an adjustment.

Where do you get the weapon from? The Gjallarhorn has been available since December 7th, 2021. However, the exotic quest is only available to owners of the Bungie 30 Year Pack. So you must have purchased either the small anniversary package or the “The Witch Queen” digital deluxe package including “30 years of Bungie”.
