Suspicious Sony banner hints at acquisition of Kojima Productions

Suspicious, very suspicious! Sony may have already given a hint about the next first-party studio itself.

Sony could already have given a decisive hint as to which development studio will next become a PlayStation and thus first-party studio. At least an image was exchanged on a banner on the official website, which could be a more or less clear announcement. The whole thing should be treated with caution, but at least it looks very suspicious.

Kojima Productions could soon be part of Sony’s first-party studios

What’s the matter? Microsoft, Sony and a few others are competing to buy up new studios or entire publishers. At least this impression could be created and it was repeatedly emphasized that the market consolidation should be pushed further. Accordingly, many players are eagerly waiting to see which developer studios will be taken over next. Kojima Productions is a prime candidate.

Suspicious, suspicious! There is a banner on the Sony site that previously only featured game characters from Sony’s PlayStation Studios titles. And it is precisely on this banner that one game has now been replaced by another. However, the newcomer is not a first-party studio at all – at least not yet.

Here see you it: If you look closely, it’s easy to see that the leftmost character from the PS4 Exclusive Concrete Genie has been replaced with Sam Porter Bridges from Death Stranding on the new version of the banner.

This makes Death Stranding the only game pictured that wasn’t developed by one of Sony’s first party studios. While this is an exclusive that only released on PC and PS4 and PS5 and not for Xbox, Kojima Productions is still an independent studio. But if that banner means anything, that could be about to change.

More on Sony’s First Party Studios:

How realistic does that seem? Pretty much. The hint seems far from far-fetched, at least, and such a purchase wouldn’t come as a huge surprise. On the other hand, that doesn’t have to mean anything. After all, Death Stranding is a Sony brand, regardless of the studio.

What do you think: will Sony buy Kojima Productions? How do you like that?
