In the new MMO Palia, testers destroy the game by baking too many cakes

Palia is a new MMO in development that focuses on social interactions and side quests like housing, own farms and baking. Now the developers shared some pictures and stories from the alpha. One story revolves around a player who just baked too many cakes.

What’s happening in the MMO right now? Palia is in an alpha from which gameplay is not yet allowed to be shown. Only select players can participate in this Alpha. There are no packages to buy into.

Now, however, the developers have shared some community pictures and stories from the alpha in a blog post. You can see the first areas, housing and fishing, but also some funny bugs.

1,023 cakes destroy the game

What are these stories? Most of these stories revolve around chaos.

The player Berry, for example, baked cakes with friends. A lot of cakes. The game is said to have collapsed at 1,023 of these sweet sugar bombs. A bug that will be fixed in the future.

This is what it looks like in Palia when the village bakes some cakes together (via Palia).

Players are also said to have pounded the earth together using gathering tools to create cool photos from the dust effect. This was also not actually intended by the developers, but could remain in the game as a feature, as they revealed in the blog post.

In addition, many new friendships are said to have been made in the playtest, which, according to the developers, is also the core of the game.

What can you already do in the alpha? The Alpha focused on fishing, baking, farming, gliding and housing. Some insight into this activity is provided by the screenshots we extracted from Palia’s blog post:

Palia sounds perfect for Animal Crossing fans, wants to offer fair Free2Play

What is this game anyway? Palia wants to make the side activities of other MMORPGs its main features. The focus is on social coexistence and shared experiences. The developers promise a fair Free2Play, in which the developers and players should win together.

The core content of the game is:

  • The housing with thousands of different items. Have your friends come over and help you decorate.
  • Activities like fishing, cooking, logging or building your own farm.
  • You can constantly change your character’s appearance and give him cool outfits.
  • You can form friendships and relationships with NPCs in the area.

In Palia there should also be the possibility to fight against creatures from the environment, but that should be purely optional. It’s all about special hunting quests. It is not based on classes, but on a system of different skills.

How do you like the concept of Palia? And what do you think of the first screenshots and stories? Would you like to participate in this alpha? Feel free to write it in the comments.
