LoL: German professional plays the match of his life – then says the forbidden word 3 times
In League of Legends, German midlane Felix “Abbedagge” Braun just made a convincing impression in the USA. He and his team, 100 Thieves, defeated highly favored Team Liquid in the playoffs. In an interview after the match, however, he overdid it a bit. He said the forbidden word “fuck” 3 times, much to the delight of the roaring audience.
Who is this?
- Felix Braun is a 22-year-old German. He had the honor (or bad luck) of playing for Schalke from 2018 to 2021. He was considered a talent, but went through several crises at Schalke. Ultimately, he was sold to the US when Schalke were relegated to the Bundesliga and decided to sell his LoL team to bring in money.
- In the US, the German suddenly looked like a superstar, leading a mediocre team, 100 Thieves, to the championship title and dominating the league at times.
- In 2022, the regular season only went so mezzo: In the league you only finished third, in the playoffs it was already in round 2 against the highly favored super team, “Team Liquid”, which before the season some of the best players in the West had bought together.

Abbedagge decides playoff series with “backdoor play”
How did the game end? It was a pretty crazy match:
- At first everything went as planned. Team Liquid easily won the first 2 games with 16-2 and 18-8 kills. Abeddage lost his midlane against Star player Bjergsen hard with 0-5 and 1-7.
- But from match 3 it went the other way around, 100 Thieves won with 18-3 kills. Abbedagge played 6-1-10 on Orianna. That was the turning point.
- The outsider 100 Thieves won the last two matches and won the match. Abbedagge of all people set the decisive final point with a “backdoor play” – while everyone else was fighting against each other, the German stole away and decided the match alone.
0-2 behind, 3-2 won – the German suddenly has the upper hand
What happened after that? In post-game interviews, the German midlaner was suddenly in a pretty good mood. He announced:
“I can’t think of a more satisfying way to win than to totally shit 0-2 and then stomp them away 3-0 on a team that thought they had the best squad in the league”
Then what went wrong? If it had stayed with the trash talk, everything would have been okay. But the German then got angry and used the word “fuck”, which is forbidden in the USA, three times:
- Once when explaining the situation with the backdoor play. Then he asked himself: “What the fuck are they doing?” and then decided to plan to go it alone – the audience was already laughing.
- Then shortly afterwards: After the second match he went to the toilet and just asked himself: “Fuck, what are we going to do now?” – The audience roared again.
- He played “fucking shit” the first two games anyway – so the hat-trick was perfect.
What is the problem? What sounds like “normal” gaming language is still a forbidden word in the USA and is also frowned upon in LoL broadcasts. After all, the game is approved for ages 13 and up. It is believed that Riot will issue a hefty fine for the “triple fuck”. It is speculated that the interview could cost the Germans several thousand dollars (via twitter):
- Abbeddage tweeted with a wink: “Fuck I could get a fine.”
- But his boss, Nadeshot, jumped in: “We’ll pay the fines.”
Apparently 100 Thieves is just happy that things are going so well at the moment.
Nadeshot seems like a pretty cool boss anyway. After all, he was once a professional gamer himself. He understands a lot, but not everything:
