German Veterans are Developing a New MMORPG – Start Pre-Alpha for All

Persist online in-game

Persists Online is a new MMORPG developed by CipSoft. This German studio has already had great success with the MMORPG Tibial Online. Now a new survival game should tie in with it.

What kind of game is this? Persist Online is a Free2Play MMORPG with a zombie and survival focus. It is currently only playable for PC, but there will also be a mobile version in the future.

At the beginning you create a character and can give it a total of 14 different attribute points. These go for example in strength, intelligence or charisma. With this character you then explore a large, open world.

  • The game world has a polygon-like look and is set in a modern setting
  • You start in a bunker where you can see your progress and be safe
  • The further you move from your safe bunker, the more dangerous the world should become
  • You fight with firearms like revolvers, submachine guns, snipers, but also simple weapons like a baseball bat or a knife
  • There is a science tree that you can use to learn new skills
  • You can use crafting to gain new equipment and repair old ones

Already in the first town you will meet trigger-happy NPCs, zombies and other players who could attack you. At night, however, the whole world should become even more dangerous. If you die, you will be resurrected in a nearby hospital, but with no items and a ‘cloning debuff’.

Who can play the MMORPG? Everyone! Persist Online is currently in a pre-alpha, but anyone who creates an account can participate (via Persist Online). The client is just under 2 gigabytes in size.

Developers have had great success with Tibia Online

Who is developing the game? Persist Online is implemented by CipSoft, a German developer studio. They had great success in 1997 with the MMORPG Tibia Online. The game is still popular 20 years after its release and was even able to set new records in 2020:

  • The average number of active players in 2020 at Tibia increased by a third to 100,000 concurrent players
  • CipSoft’s turnover increased by 10 million euros to a total of 25 million
  • The company’s profits doubled

While they were developing new games in the meantime, such as LiteBringer and Project: Battle Arena, neither were as successful and Battle Arena has even since been shut down. Now try your luck with the survival MMORPG.

What do you think of Persist Online? Have you already tried the MMORPG? Do you like the concept and the look in general or do you prefer to stick with your established games?
