Pokémon GO Guide: Community Day in April with Velursi – This is how you use it properly
On April 23, 2022, Pokémon GO has Community Day with Velursi. Here on MeinMMO you can find out what bonuses you can expect, what the shiny looks like and how you can best take advantage of the event.
What is this event? Community Day is held every month in Pokémon GO. During the event period, one Pokémon is always the focus, which then appears at all corners and ends of the game. The shiny rate of this monster is then also noticeably increased.
The Community Day in April now has a special feature: the Pokémon Velursi is the star of the day. In fact, neither this monster nor its development Kosturso has been caught in Pokémon GO so far.
Both celebrate their debut in the game with the Community Day.
In addition, there are some other bonuses. We summarize all important information about the event for you here.

What does Shiny Velursi look like?
Watch the time: With its duration, the Community Day returns to the three hours that are known from the past. Until recently, the events ran for six hours.
So you should plan for that – especially since Velursi needs a total of 400 candies to be developed into Kosturso.
What’s in the shop? The shop will also offer a few special items for Community Day.
- The special research “Wild Fang” for 1 euro
- A free special box unlocked by a Twitter sweepstakes. It contains 1 Lure Module, 1 Lucky Egg and 1 Raid Pass
- A free box containing 30 Hyper Balls
- The Community Day Box for 850 coins. Featuring: 15 Hyper Balls, 15 Pinap Berries, 1 Top Instant TM and 1 Remote Raid Pass included.
- Event Stickers
This is how you make the most of Community Day with Velursi
What preparations should you make? As already mentioned, the Community Day was shortened to 3 hours again, which caused a lot of discussion.
At the same time, you need 400 candies for monster development. As a result, you should have enough balls ready to focus on catching Velursi.
It is best to prepare a supply of at least 300 balls so that you are not dependent on rotating PokéStops or arenas.
Also, make sure you have enough space in your Pokémon Box so you don’t have to waste time sorting and shipping during the event.
Use the XP bonuses: There is less time, but the bonuses allow you to collect some progress in the game.
- The triple Catch EXP is particularly exciting if you want to level up quickly in Pokémon GO. Try to throw fabulous shots during the event – thanks to the bonus, they can bring you at least 3,000 XP per catch.
- If you find a busy Lure Module, it may be worth staying here to get the x4 XP bonus.
- If you now throw a lucky egg, you double the number of XP again.
Pokémon GO: Overview for levels 41 to 50 – XP and tasks
These items are worthwhile for Community Day: The combination of lucky egg and lure module can bring you forward in the hunt for the important XP. It can also be worth using smoke to keep catching Velursi in less crowded places.
In addition, you should use pineapple berries for twice the candy. This will give you the resources you need to develop Velursi into Kosturso faster.
Is the Community Day with Velursi worth it?
Who is Community Day worthwhile for? Basically, the Community Day is interesting because Velursi is a new Pokémon.
In addition, Kosturso needs a lot of candy. It won’t be as easy to get it as easy as at the event for a long time. This makes the event worthwhile for anyone who is following a full Pokédex.
Does Shiny Velursi exist? Yes. Shiny hunters can look forward to a new monster as Velursi will also be available in his shiny form. This also applies to the development of Kosturso.
In addition, Kosturso could also be interesting for PvP players. His attack “Diversion Slash” is also new and increases the defense value with each attack in trainer battles.
Last but not least, the Community Day is also worthwhile for everyone who is on the hunt for experience points – because in the 3 hours you will probably be able to collect a lot of XP by simply catching.
And if you don’t care about catching at all, you can at least trade a few Pokémon and benefit from the reduced Stardust costs.
The current event will also continue parallel to the Community Day: The Environment Week will also bring a new monster and Shiny-Kikugi.
