Pokémon GO: Player reached level 30, only caught 1 Pokémon

A Pokémon GO player has taken on a very special challenge. With his rules, he finally reached level 30, but only caught a single monster.

What is this challenge? on reddit explains user notAKawaiiCatGirl to have now reached level 30. However, only the starter Pokémon was caught. Leveling with friends also only played a small role, because the challenge includes: Only add friends that you know in real life.

Here we show you exactly what the challenge looks like and which rare Pokémon the player came across.

Level 40 is the end – this is how the level challenge works

The rules are:

  • Don’t catch Pokemon
  • Eggs are allowed
  • Only add friends you know in real life
  • No swapping because it makes the challenge too easy
  • Raids are played, but Pokemon are not caught

So far, the player has two “Best Friends” in Pokémon GO, i.e. the highest friendship status. He chose Bulbasaur as his starter Pokémon.

How does he get experience points? In the special challenge, the player does not catch any Pokémon. Progress is gained by spinning PokéStops, playing in Gyms, hatching eggs, giving gifts with friends, and evolving Pokémon.

“However, development is very slow if you only use eggs,” points out notAKawaiiCatGirl. Because to develop you need Pokémon candies, which the player cannot earn through catches, but only from Pokémon that hatch from eggs. Chance plays a big role here.

The fact that the player has now reached level 30 means that he has earned around 2 million experience points from these activities alone. However, the requirements tighten up until level 40, because to reach this level, 18 million XP must be earned.

But at level 40 this challenge is over. “I can’t reach level 41,” writes the player. Because there are special requirements for levels 41 to 50 in Pokémon GO. It’s no longer enough to just earn XP. A level 41 task is “Catch 200 Pokémon in a single day”. Since the player does not catch any Pokémon, this is not possible.

How do you like such challenges? Do you find it exciting to make the game even more difficult and would you play something like that, or is that too boring for you and you prefer to play the way the game intended? Let us know what you think about it here on MeinMMO in the comments.
