The biggest streamer on Twitch doesn't want to be a role model: "I play video games, I don't raise children"

Felix “xQc” Lengyel gambled on a crane machine in a past stream. A debate arose between viewers and the Twitch streamer.

What was that debate? Viewers donated to xQc and provided the donation with messages that were automatically read aloud by a bot in the stream. It was about the fact that one side thought that he was gambled away senselessly with the money he received from the viewers.

The other side stood by xQc and felt he could do whatever he wanted with the money. As the donations rolled in and the chat also joined the discussion, xQc became more and more annoyed:

Apparently I have to pave the damn way to heaven. Apparently I can’t just make content these days. (…) I always have to make sure that the content is morally and ethically correct.

The donations, the allegations and discussions didn’t stop and at some point it became too much for xQc, he shouted at his viewers:

I’m expected to save the world, support every charity out there, take care of ethical, social and political issues. I shall conquer disease, cancer, entertain the chat and educate everyone’s children. I play video games, I don’t raise children!

You can see the streamer’s freak out in the Twitch clip:

He just wanted to gamble and produce content. But since xQc is now considered an “influencer”, he always has to be careful about what he’s doing. When a viewer said he shouldn’t care about those who want to cancel him, he said he does care about having a happy community.

As the largest streamer on the platform, there are of course even more eyes on him and his mistakes than with smaller ones.

Some viewers even suggested that he does raise children as he influences them with his content. But xQc is sure that he will be criticized anyway, no matter what he streams and how he points out.

Even if he took measures like an age limit or a paywall for his stream and made tons of references to gambling, he would still be taken down.
