Rumor: Zelda Twilight Princess and Wind Waker coming in 2022 as a Switch bundle

It was quite a disappointment for many when Nintendo announced a few weeks ago that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 would no longer be released in 2022. Our editor Tobias explained why this could be a reason why the long-hyped Zelda Collection might still find its way to us.

Like well-connected industry insider Jeff Grubb all rolled into one Nintendo Podcast reveals on his YouTube channel that the collection could actually be released in 2022. He had already spilled the beans in the past and confirmed the collection’s existence. We may not only expect two new The Legend of Zelda titles this year, but another Nintendo treat.

Twilight Princess and Wind Waker on Switch

Already last year, many fans rumored that for the 35th anniversary, a Zelda Collection should be launched that brings old Zelda titles to the switch. But if Grubb is right, the titles will be released in October 2022:

“They want a Zelda game every year, and they’ve held this back, why not just release it this year. And if they don’t release this or another Zelda game this year instead of on Breath of the Wild 2 to wait I just don’t get it I believe that this game [Wind Waker und Twilight Princess Bundle]much as it was a joke in the megabit 64 video, is actually coming out in October.”

He adds that a release in September would even be possible. But with Nintendo already having hits like Splatoon 3 scheduled for September, Grubb thinks October would be a much more likely month to see the Zelda titles.

What is the Zelda Collection? Nobody knows exactly which titles will actually be included in the Zelda Collection. But if Grubb’s claims are to be believed, we can look forward to Switch ports of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.

Last year only The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD was released as a switch port. You can find the matching trailer for this on GamePro:

Samus Aran is reportedly joining

But that doesn’t stop the news. Grubb also claims that another Nintendo classic should shine in a new guise. In addition to the two Zelda titles, Metroid Prime Remaster should also appear.

When is Metroid Prime Remaster supposed to come out? Grubb thinks the Switch port may be coming in November 2022, just a month after the release of the two Zelda titles.

Another insider explains why we might only be expecting individual games instead of the collection:

Zelda Collection for Switch might not be a collection at all

Zelda Collection for Switch might not be a collection at all

How likely is that? Jeff Grubb is a real connoisseur of the video game industry, well connected and often chats about the inside story. So it could really be that a Zelda Collection could await us. For example, Grubb previously predicted the reveal of It Takes Two.

Although the rumors sound plausible and other insiders are also reporting similar things, we should take the information with a grain of salt. As long as Nintendo has not yet confirmed the existence of the ports, plans to release the Switch titles could be thrown out at any time. So we have to wait for better or worse until we get the first official information about the switch ports.

What would you think of the Switch ports for Twilight Princess, Wind Waker, and Metroid Prime?
