Operation Highjump: The Fall of Berlin: Metal Slug Tribute on Kickstarter

Operation Highjump: The Fall of Berlin (Arcade-Action) von

Take a lot of Metal Slug, mix in a bit of Lost Vikings and refine the whole thing with a Commandos setting and an Indiana Jones slapstick story. The tempting-looking result is due out as early as September.

Operation Highjump: The Fall of Berlin has already taken the most important hurdle – the (low) goal of the Kickstarter campaign (6,000 euros) was outbid by 200%, the game is scheduled for release this fall on PC, Switch, PS4 and PS5. In the mega-detailed game scene trailer (see below) there is more and more action to be seen, plus a few simple switch puzzles. The game currently seems to be much closer to Metal Slug than to the other influences mentioned. By the way, for those unfamiliar with Metal Slug, just imagine a beautifully pixelated 2D platform shooter about wiping out hosts of enemies like in Contra/Probotector. In terms of action, Operation Highjump doesn’t look as elegant and snappy as the Neo Geo classic, but stylistically what’s on offer is really worth seeing.

If you’re interested in Operation Highjump, then do yourself a favor and read it for a mile Kickstarter website carefully: There you will find a look behind the scenes, voices from the Spanish developers, beautifully pixelated artwork and much more. Of course, there are also umpteen stretch goals – from the physical version with an art book to your own arcade machine.
