Which GoPro is the best (for me)?
GoPro Hero 9 Black

- Why to buy: Very good image stabilization, great 5K footage, built-in accessory mount
- Why not buy: Bigger and heavier than its predecessors, not compatible with old batteries

The previous model of the current GoPro was presented in October 2019. If you can do without the front display and the 5K support of the Hero 9 Black, you will definitely get a great action cam with the GoPro Hero 8 Black, which is also a good 170 euros cheaper than the current flagship. Like the Hero 9, the Hero 8 also records 4K videos at 60 fps, and the image stabilization via HyperSmooth is also hardly worse than the current action cam. Compared to its predecessor Hero 7 Black, the Hero 8 no longer requires a mounting frame, for example to attach it to a tripod. There are two tabs that can be folded out on the bottom.
- Why to buy: Very good image stabilization, good 4K recording, wide range of frame rate options, built-in attachment for accessories
- Why not buy: Screen smaller than some competing devices
GoPro Hero 7 Black

The GoPro Hero 7 Black was introduced in September 2018 and is therefore already two and a half years old. Nevertheless, the action cam remains one of the best devices on the market – especially for the current price of around 279 euros. If you can do without the mods introduced with the Hero 8, you can get practically the same technology for less money with the Hero 7.
- Why buy: good 4K recordings, good image stabilization, comparatively cheap
- Why not buy: voice control needs improvement, screen sometimes responds slowly
GoPro Max

Along with the Hero 8 Black, GoPro also introduced the GoPro Max in autumn 2019. The camera is the successor to the 360-degree camera GoPro Fusion. The recordings of the two integrated cameras are combined internally into a 360-degree clip and the end result is stored on a memory card. Thanks to the 1.7-inch touch display, the Hero Max is primarily aimed at users who want to switch back and forth between taking pictures of themselves and the surroundings, or who want to take a complete scene and not just a specific view.
- Why to buy: Stabilized 360-degree footage, fully customizable video quality
- Why not buy: No 4K recordings, comparatively expensive
