Next "Warcraft" will be free-to-play mobile game

The next game in Blizzard’s popular Warcraft universe isn’t a new installment in the iconic real-time strategy series or online role-playing game, World of Warcraft, but a mobile game. With “Warcraft Arclight Rumble”, the Californian game developer has announced a free-to-play game with microtransactions and tower defense mechanics.

“Warcraft Arclight Rumble” is described by the developer as a “Tower Offense” game, reports the gaming magazine “Gamestar”. As a player you have to build defensive positions, defeat bosses and send your own soldiers from the alliance, horde, undead and wild animals factions onto the enemy. Visually, “Warcraft Arclight Rumble” is particularly cute. Collectable heroes and villains, which can be unlocked over the course of the 70-mission campaign, are intended to provide long-term motivation. Free-to-play game with in-game currency “Warcraft Arclight Rumble” will be a free-to-play game i.e. can be downloaded free of charge from relevant smartphone app marketplaces. The developers want to earn money by selling a premium currency that allows you to progress faster in the game. “Warcraft Arclight Rumble” is to be released in the course of the year, the developers have not yet revealed a specific date. It remains to be seen how well the project will be received by “Warcraft” fans: with the announcement of a mobile game in the “Diablo” universe Blizzard drew a shitstorm in 2018. Fans of the California game developer had been hoping for a big PC game, not a mobile game. “Warcraft Arclight Rumble” also causes skeptical comments on social media.
