Twitch streamer Asmongold explains why Blizzard's new mobile game is becoming more important than WoW

Blizzard recently introduced its new mobile game “Warcraft: Arclight Rumble”. Reactions have been mixed, but Twitch streamer Asmongold explains why the game is becoming so important to the company.

What is it about? After 19 years, Blizzard introduced a new strategy game for Warcraft. With the title “Arclight Rumble” you want to promote the smartphones of the target group. The gameplay sounds like a mixture of Tower Defense and Clash Royale. A mix that not everyone likes.

In addition, players complain that the game doesn’t look like Warcraft at all.

Despite the criticism, the biggest WoW streamer on Twitch, Asmongold, says Arclight Rumble will bring the company big bucks. More than WoW and Diablo 3.

“I think this could be a huge game”

Asmongold says: Asmongold was impressed by the presentation of the game in his live stream. He believes the game could become really big and popular, and therefore very significant for the Blizzard company (via YouTube from about 24 minutes in VoD).

“The funny thing is that the game will probably make more money than WoW. I’m pretty sure the game will make more money than Diablo 3.” As an explanation, he emphasizes that mobile games print money.

“For every one of you who’s like, ‘Oh that’s so stupid, I hate that,’ there are a few others out there who are putting $150 into the game in the first week of the game’s release.”

Sensor Tower estimates that Honor of Kings earned Tencent $272.4 million from player spending in March alone. PUBG Mobile, on the other hand, is said to have generated around $199.8 million in the same period, with a majority of users from China. According to the analysis (via Sensortower.com).

So it’s no big surprise that Asmongold predicts such a bright future for the game.

Activision Blizzard announced in a quarterly report how much money they make with in-game shops. In its earnings call on November 2, the company said it raised $1.198 billion in micro-transactions in Q3 2021. Dealing with in-game shops is already established in the company and works in games like World of Warcraft or CoD Warzone.

What do you think? Will the game really be such a big hit for Blizzard that will bring in a lot of money for the company in the future, or is Arclight Rumble a flop for you just by showing it?
