Lost Ark finally reveals what’s in the huge May patch – Bringing new class, raids and guild activities

Lost Ark Valtan

In May Lost Ark gets the second big update since the release in February. The focus is on the new Destroyer class and lots of group content. Highlights are the Legion Raid and a new Guardian Raid. However, this content requires a high item level. But even casual gamers get their money’s worth.

What exactly is in the May patch? The patch brings the following new features:

  • The Legion raid Valtan
  • The new Guardian Raid Deskaluda
  • The destroyer class
  • The new weekly activity, Trial Guardian Raids
  • Chaos Lines hard mode
  • New activity in South Vern
  • The new area Wildwing Island
  • New PvE and PvP activities for the guild
  • Neria’s Wardrobe – a limited-time skin shop
  • Balance changes to some classes

The scope of the update is therefore very large. Anyone who slowly starts to get bored after the first three months in Lost will now have many new tasks ahead of them.

When is the patch coming out? There is no specific release date yet. However, the last patch notes said that the update will not appear before the third week of May. Possible dates for the update are only May 19th or 26th.

The 5 reasons for the incredible success of Lost Ark

New raids will be challenging and require a high Gearscore

What are the highlights of the update? For frequent players, the two new raid contents are the big highlights.

Valtan is the first Legion raid in the West. This content is particularly difficult and requires a lot of teamwork. As with Argos, there are checkpoints that you can reach to bag your first loot and save your progress. Valtan comes straight with the normal mode (1,415 gearscore) and the difficult mode (1,445 gearscore).

Deskaluda, on the other hand, is a new Guardian Raid that requires a Gearscore of 1,415. In this raid you only fight against one opponent, which you can even attack alone – if you want to try.

If you don’t feel like new raid content, you can level up and equip the Destroyer class. This is a melee fighter that hits slowly, but deals a lot of damage. What’s cool is that the destroyer appears directly in its revised forum, which has also only recently appeared in Korea.

What else does the patch bring? New challenges await you in the new area of South Vern, which was only released in April. In addition to the Chaos Line hard mode, there are also new activities including:

  • Thunderwing Territory Boss
  • The Chaos Portal of South Vern
  • Ghost Ship from South Vern
  • Chaos Dungeons of South Vern

Also, Wildwing Island will be released, a place where you transform into a chicken and fight the Rooster King for Event Coins. That sounds hilarious and already looks funny on the first screenshot.

You fight this rooster on Wildwing Island.

There is also a new PvP activity for guild players, where you can compete against other guilds for conquest points. For PvE guilds there is also a raid match where you fight the Sylmael Devourer. The quicker you defeat him, the higher your guild will rank up.

Players request new skins and get them

What’s up with the new wardrobe? With the May update, Neria’s wardrobe will be open for a month. There you can buy new skins, such as t-shirts, jeans and dresses. After a month, the shop should disappear again.

However, it is unclear whether you are paying for in-game or real money currency there.

How’s the balance? The blog post states that Smilegate recently released a balance patch for many classes in Korea. This one seems to come to us too. Details will only be published with the patch notes.

What do you think of the changes in May? Does the big update appeal to you? Feel free to write it in the comments.
