Buy PS5: You can currently get the console cheaper on eBay and Co
The PS5 doesn’t cost that much on eBay right now.
Playstation 5 availability continues to suck, and if things go badly, it’ll continue until 2024. Nevertheless, small waves with new consoles are washed up again and again. And sometimes, like at the end of April, those waves aren’t all that puny.
Of course, the devices are sold out within minutes. However, such drops can also have a positive impact on all of you who could not get hold of a PS5.
Massive PS5 drops drive reseller prices down
Of course, many of the PS5 consoles went back to the scalpers we all love in April, who then resell their consoles on platforms like eBay with a sometimes hefty premium. However, the prices at the resellers are currently significantly lower than in the last few weeks, which is probably due to the increased delivery quantities.

Buy PS5 in May 2022
This is what you pay for a PS5 on eBay: The Digital Edition is now “already” available for 600 euros, the Disk Edition from around 650 euros. Of course, that’s still well above the RRP (399 and 499 euros), but if you just don’t want to wait any longer, you don’t have to dig so deep into your pocket anymore. Nevertheless, it is and remains a bite in the sour apple, even if the stomach may not contract quite as much.
Play it safe when buying: Before you buy a console from a reseller, you should check the shop first. For example, you can look at the ratings. If you are on a site without a safety net (e.g. eBay classifieds), do not under any circumstances transfer the money by bank transfer or PayPal to “friends/acquaintances”. Basically, you should be suspicious of prices that are well below the average.
What else you should know:
No improvement in sight: Sony recently released new sales figures for the PS5. A total of 19.3 million consoles were sold. However, the last quarter (January to March 2022) lags behind all previous sales quarters with only two million units delivered. For comparison: In the first quarter of 2021 there were still 3.3 million consoles (via games economy).
