The Division 2 is back – New Season 9 starts the day after tomorrow and so it goes in 2022

the division 2 season 9 road map

The loot shooter The Division 2 had long since disappeared. But now the journey continues and Season 9 with TU15 starts on May 12th with a new mode, fresh mechanics and a roadmap until the end of August. MeinMMO shows you the details of the new season.

The Division 2 failed to meet publisher Ubisoft’s expectations and abruptly ended content replenishment. The game was quiet for a long time. There was an announcement for a new update, but there was no timetable or even a roadmap for a very long time.

Then, at the end of March 2022, came the surprising news – The Division 2 will get new content in Season 9. These include a new mode, the “Expertise” gear mechanic and new equipment including exotics.

Now a trailer and the roadmap for Season 9 is online. The start date is also set: Division 2 continues on Thursday, May 12th. We’ll show you what you can expect on MeinMMO. We include the trailer for the new season here:

Division 2: Season 9 – Once the whole menu until the end of August

What’s coming with Season 9? The roadmap covers a timeline up to the end of August, delivering a bit of everything and even more:

  • New mode Countdown
  • Equipment expertise system
  • New Manhunt continues the story with 5 objectives
  • 6 events and 4 leagues
  • New Equipments

In the next few lines, we will explain to you what is behind the individual points. We include the roadmap for you here:

What is this new game mode? The highlight of Season 9 should be the new Countdown mode. As the name already suggests, you are supposed to fix a problem under time pressure and encounter strong resistance.

2 teams of 4 agents invade a power plant to solve a local problem. You only have 15 minutes to rectify the situation. The area is full of enemies trying to stop you from stabilizing the power plant.

The mode is basically designed for 8 players, but can also be managed by fewer people. Solo players and smaller teams can also come in – matchmaking is activated.

PC players have already been able to try Countdown on a test server. If you want to see the mode in detail, we’ll embed a video by Division YouTuber “Charles” here:

What is the “Expertise System”? The new gear mechanic offers a new way to improve equipment. If you play with certain items, the equipment levels up in the background, which gives you extra power in the end. Appropriate items can also be “donated” to increase Expertise levels.

However, you do not level a special item, but the category. For example, the weapon class “assault rifles”. Named items also have their own expertise rank, just like exotics, tokens, gear sets, and armor pieces.

This adds more depth to the equipment system. In a separate, new menu you have an overview of the expertise levels of the equipment.

By the way, we recently talked about Division in our podcast on MeinMMO:

How does the new “Manhunt” bring? For a long time, The Division 2 repeated old seasons and kept bringing new incarnations of opponents who had already been dealt with. With Season 9 there are again 5 new goals and with them a new story about the faction “True Sons”.

The leader of the new enemy troop is Captain Lewis, who you should place at the very end of the manhunt:

However, you fight your way through to the boss first. Before that you have to kill his minions and every 3 weeks there is a new opponent:

  • From May 12: Major Castillo
  • From May 31: Sergeant Daniels
  • From June 21: Lieutenant Chang
  • From July 12: Major Xander
  • Captain Lewis – Defeat all Lieutenants

The Lieutenants then take on one of the DC missions overrun by the True Sons during the introduction.

Shortly after the introduction of the small bosses, a league goes online. These leagues require you to complete certain missions and do well for extra rewards:

  • Castillo League: May 17 – May 31
  • Daniels League: June 07 – June 21
  • Chang League: June 28 – July 12
  • Xander League: July 19 – August 02

There’s also a new Battle Pass that lets you get more items in exchange for game time. There is a free path and a premium path that spits out more items if you pay for it.

What events are running in Season 9? According to the current status, Season 9 will run until at least August 29th – that’s when the last announced event ends. The following events are planned in Seaosn 9:

  • Polarity Switch: May 24th – May 30th
  • Guardians: June 14 – June 20
  • SHD Exposed: July 05 – July 11
  • Hollywood: July 26 – August 01
  • Golden Bullet: August 9th – August 15th
  • Reanimated: August 23 – August 29

What new equipment is there? There is a little bit of everything here too. You’ll find new weapons and gear, as well as a new gear set, a new exotic, and fresh named items.

What’s next after Season 9? Division 2 makes no promises after Season 9. Those responsible at developer Massive Entertainment are now working on the title with a much smaller team than before.

Creative director Yannick Banchereau said in a Season 9 stream that there is hope for Division 2 to evolve.

However, this is also due to the success of the new season: “The more people play, the better we can convince our bosses to make more content” (via reddit). So the future remains unclear.

But at least a certain replenishment is guaranteed until the end of August and that is more than one could have expected a few months ago.

We are interested in what you think of the content replenishment. Please leave us a comment on the topic. There are still many fans who keep an eye on the title: “Still one of the best games for me” – why shooter fans should catch up on The Division 2
