Destiny 2 is currently hosting the 2022 Guardian Games. But already in the first week it became known that some players are cheating for a rare emblem. Bungie has now released a fix, but instead of punishing the crooks, they are even rewarded at the end of the custodian games.

What are the Guardian Games struggling with? We had already reported on MeinMMO in advance that the guardian games are struggling with scammers. Players cold-heartedly exploited an in-game mechanic to rack up huge amounts of points in the competitive playlists. A high score placed them in the top 10% of players who should have access to a very rare emblem.

However, these crooks ranked out honest players who were honestly trying to get a high score in order to even come close to qualifying.

Bungie got wind of this and announced on Twitterthat the problem has now been addressed. But instead of being punished or disqualified, the crafty guardians are also rewarded.

Rule Change – Now more Guardians get the Emblem

What did Bungie change? Among other minor fixes from the new update, Bungie mentioned the following:

We’ve updated Warden Games community scores (including the top 10%) to ignore high scores achieved by repeatedly reviving fireteam members. Everyone is still eligible for the Top 10% emblem, over-scoring will not unfairly skew the “10%” threshold.

This is the rare emblem that many Guardians are interested in

However, that doesn’t mean the scammers have been disqualified. What Bungie means by this is that players with such a “cheese score” will not count towards the overall Guardian Games community scores. This gives them, with their extremely high score, an almost certain chance of getting the emblem.

Do I still have a chance to get the emblem? For you, this means that the 10% pool of “worthy” Guardians will be expanded. Thus, not only the cheaters benefit, but also honorable players who have honestly put in the time and effort to get the emblem.

So the only thing you have to do is to be above the average of the general score.

How high does the score have to be? The YouTuber “Cheese Forever” sets the minimum score at around 200,000 – 300,000 and believes that this limit must be reached or exceeded in order to be able to safely receive the emblem.

What do you think of Bungie not cracking down on scammers? Do you not care or are you angry that they are also rewarded? Let us know how you feel about it in the comments!
