Sony will probably release a revised PS5 model, but please stay seated

The CFI 1200 series would already be the second revision for the PS5.

Apparently, Sony will deliver a revised PS5 model in the future. As Video game chronicle reported that Sony has registered a corresponding new model in Japan, which will be called “CFI-1200”. For comparison: The launch PS5 had a CFI-1XXX designation.

Speculations about a significantly more powerful variant or even a PS5 Pro can take the wind out of the sails directly. Because the “new” model will only offer a few small detail changes.

PS5 update model apparently has revised radio parts

Strictly speaking, the radio parts (which are responsible for the transmission of WLAN and Bluetooth signals, among other things) are to be revised within the console in order to be aligned with current technical standards. The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, which is responsible for compliance with these standards in Japan, has already certified the product accordingly.

It is not known whether there are any other technical changes, but there has recently been speculation about an adapted AMD CPU, which should be included in a possible update model. Production of the revised PS5 models is then scheduled to start between the second and third quarters of 2022 (via DigiTimes).

Sony launched a revised PS5 model last year. Even then, the changes were more of a cosmetic nature, including changing the screw for installing the stand on the PS5. The designation of this model is CFI-11XX.
