There are many pickaxes in Fortnite that players can earn through new Battle Passes, Events and the Item Shop. However, we show you the 5 rarest items from the item shop that haven’t appeared in eons.

What are pickaxes in Fortnite? Pickaxes, or harvesting tools, are brawlers that you can use to destroy and mine your obstacles. Every new player starts with a gray standard pickaxe and can earn or purchase new designs over the course of new seasons or in the item shop.

We’ve chosen Item Shop-only pickaxes in this list as they may be available again and give players a chance to acquire a rare item at some point.

Rare Pickaxes from Season Passes can never be reacquired as Season Items can no longer be earned after the Season ends. We will therefore constantly update this list in case one of the rare candidates strays into the item shop.

How do we determine the rarest pickaxes from the shop? We have each other on the side programsguide informs who has cataloged a list of all items from Fortnite. All the dates of the publications have also been dated with their list. So we compared all the pickaxes, when they spawned and how often. This gave us the following candidates:

5. Flimsie Flail

What is that pickaxe? This racquet features an inflated boxing buddy that you can use to pummel your opponents. This harvesting tool was released in Chapter 1 Season 7 on March 02, 2019. After its release, this hoe only appeared in the shop twice until it disappeared on March 4th, 2019. Since then, collectors have been waiting for this hoe for 1165 days (as of May 11, 2022)

How much does the pickaxe cost? The harvesting tool has a rarity of “Rare” and thus costs 800 V-Bucks. Matching the look, the hoe is part of the “Hot Air” set.

4. Empire Axe

What is that pickaxe? The Empire Axe is the fourth rarest pickaxe. The Harvesting Tool first appeared in the shop in Chapter 3 Season 1 and last appeared on February 28, 2019. Since then, players have been waiting 1166 days for his return (as of May 11, 2022).

What is that pickaxe? This simple hoe Names “Armature” is number three. It has been 1167 days since the pickaxe returned to the shop (as of May 11, 2022). The release took place on January 25, 2019 in Chapter 1 Season 7.

How much does the pickaxe cost? The Harvesting Tool is of Uncommon rarity, so it costs 500 V-Bucks. Matching the look, the hoe is part of the Tech Ops set.

2. Tooth pick

What is that pickaxe? This giant stick with a fixed tooth is called “Tooth Pick” and is in number two. The release took place on December 14, 2017 in Chapter 1 Season 1. The absurd stick appeared in the shop for the last time 1195 days ago (as of May 11, 2022).

How much does the pickaxe cost? The harvesting tool has a rarity of “Rare” and thus costs 800 V-Bucks. The racket does not belong to any set.

1. Drum beat

What is that pickaxe? This is the rarest pickaxe you can buy – the drumbeater “Drumbeat”. It was released in Chapter 1 Season 5 on September 2nd, 2018 and has only been brought to the item shop twice before. It’s been 1345 days (as of May 11, 2022) without this pickaxe returning to the shop.

How much does the pickaxe cost? The Harvesting Tool is of Uncommon rarity, so it costs 500 V-Bucks. Matching the look, the hoe is part of the “Flower Power” set.

The good thing about these items is that you may eventually get a chance to acquire one of them to own rare items as well. So if you want a piece of Fortnite history, don’t give up, at some point these items will be back in the shop so you can get something from Chapter 1 as a new player too.
