Like the magazine DigiTimes reports that Sony is apparently preparing an update for the Playstation 5. The magazine claims to have learned from suppliers, such as TSMC, that they would be preparing for a change in production for the period of the second and third quarters of 2022.

The revised Playstation 5 should therefore listen to the model designation CFI-1200 and have detailed improvements in the Bluetooth and WLAN modules. The first version of the Playstation 5 was called CFI-1000, the second (since August 2021) CFI-1100 – it has a different stand and a smaller cooler.

The detailed improvements of the CFI-1200 are supposed to save production costs and also some power consumption. However, it should remain with Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi 802.11ax instead of supporting newer standards.

It is not known when the new revision will be available in stores.
