PS Plus could soon get true PS2 classic that you may have already forgotten

Es ist ein Hinweis auf ein weiteres PS Plus-Spiel für das März 2022-Lineup aufgetaucht.

Which games will end up in the PS Plus Premium catalog in the future?

In June, Sony is expanding its PS Plus service for PS4 and PS5 with additional options. In the future, three different subscription variants will be available, the more expensive ones also contain more advantages. In the most expensive of the three “Tiers” – namely PS Plus Premium – you will get access to a catalog of titles from all previous PlayStation generations.

And there is a lot of speculation about which ones could be there. Already at the end of April it was leaked that with Tekken 2, Ridge Racer 2 and some others there will supposedly be a few real PS1 classics. So far it has been quieter about possible PS2 titles, but that has changed in the last week.

Because through a Trademark application by Universal Entertainment it is not unlikely that the PS2 classic Shadow Hearts could celebrate a PlayStation comeback. The brand was registered at the end of April, but the whole thing only became public last week. Since a trademark application usually also requires the use of this trademark, something could happen with Shadow Hearts in the near future and the launch of PS Plus Premium would be at least an obvious candidate.

This is Shadow Hearts for the PS2

Shadow Hearts is a role-playing game released in 2002, developed by Studio Sacnoth and set in historical China and Europe in 1913, a year before WWI. The game’s hero, Yuri Hyuga, has the ability to transform into demons and meets Alice Elliot, a young British woman whose father was brutally murdered. From now on, Yuri and Alice travel through China and take on demons, magicians and the Japanese army.

Shadow Hearts playfully combines turn-based combat with the Judgment Ring feature. Each time you perform an attack, a ring with a spinning arrow will appear. If you can stop this with perfect timing, your punches will be significantly stronger.

With Shadow Hearts: Covenant and Shadow Hearts: From the New World, two more parts of the series followed before the series disappeared in 2005 and was never revived. Although it is one of the lesser known PS2 series and has probably been forgotten by many by now, the series is considered a real classic by RPG fans.

Important: This is an unconfirmed rumor so far. Universal Interactive has yet to spell out exactly what they intend to do with the Shadow Hearts brand. A remake or remaster would also be possible, but a transfer of one or more of the old parts to the PS Plus premium catalog would be much more realistic. The next few months will show whether Shadow Hearts really ends up on the service in the future.

Do you know Shadow Hearts? And would you want to play it again today?
