iOS 16 will probably bring some fundamental system changes – but mostly keep the design of iOS 15. The official launch will take place at WWDC 2022 on June 6th.

Apple will present the next major update for iOS in just a few weeks. However, there should only be a few changes in terms of design. That’s what Bloomberg journalist and Apple expert Mark Bloomberg claims loudly MacRumors in the latest issue of its Power-On newsletter. Although there will not be a major facelift for the mobile operating system, Apple users should be happy about some “fresh Apple apps” and new ways of interacting with iOS 16.

iOS 16: Big changes, old design

It is still unclear whether iOS 16 will bring the long-awaited interactive widgets. The widgets, which received a major overhaul with iOS 14, remained unchanged with iOS 15. There is still hope for interactive widgets for iOS 16, after all there is talk of “fundamental changes”: “While I don’t expect a complete redesign of the software from Apple, there should be fundamental changes distributed throughout the system, new interaction options and some fresh Apple apps. The watchOS 9 news will also be significant,” explains Gurman in his newsletter.

As early as April, the Apple expert pointed in the direction of major iOS 16 innovations. These should include the notification system and health tracking, among other things. Gurman expects a new multitasking interface for iPadOS, and the activity and health tracking of Apple Watches should be revised. All details about iOS 16 will be available no later than June 6th at Apple’s WWDC 2022.
