How can the near-perfect Zelda: Ocarina of Time get even better? Quite simply: by allowing two people to play in co-op mode. This is how real childhood dreams come true. If then a decent graphics upgrade is added, there are hardly any wishes left. The only catch: The whole thing is only a fan project so far and is therefore on very shaky ground.

Fan remake makes childhood Zelda dreams come true

That’s what it’s about: Like most other Zelda titles, Zelda Ocarina of Time is a pure single player experience and not designed to be played in co-op. Luckily, there are fans like modder and YouTuber CryZENx working to change just that. He’s been working on his fan remake of the cult classic for over a decade and has released a new video that’s all about the co-op mode.

You can see how good the fan project looks now and how the co-op plays here:

As you can easily see in the video, this self-made new edition of Ocarina of Time can finally be played with two people. The two links dash through the starting region, get the first sword and free the deku tree. Thanks to the Unreal Engine 4, all of this not only looks a lot better than it does in the original, but even works in co-op. In the video, the co-op mode can only be seen with two players, but it also works with up to four people.

Now playable: The fan remake has been in development for a number of years and is steadily progressing. To be able to play it, all you need is a PC and then you can dem dem CryZENx Discord Server join to download the game files there. If you want, you can of course also support the creator CryZENx on Patreon and get faster updates and a lot more.

Better hurry! So far, the Zelda: Ocarina of Time fan remake seems to be flying under Nintendo’s radar. But that can change quickly and then it should no longer be available. After all, Nintendo is known for taking surprisingly tough action against fan projects like this one.
