Ex-Nintendo employee calls Waluigi’s sexy artwork a “huge mistake!”
Waluigi is an iconic video game character, and his popularity may be second only to mascots in the eyes of some fans Mario. Especially in the Mario Tennis titles, the villain in the purple pantsuit is always involved, while in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, despite numerous fan letters, it wasn’t enough for a fighter, just for the trophy.
Nevertheless, Nintendo naturally also has a lot of love for the grumpy lulatsch and publishes admirable pictures of Waluigi from time to time. one of these Art works is, however, a very special one: in an extremely amusing pose, Waluigi sticks his butt back and his tongue out of his mouth, toying almost dangerously close with a prickly rose.
A touch of tulle: Weird Waluigi artwork confuses ex-Nintendo employee
In fact, the story of this salacious artwork by Waluigi is almost as strange as the image itself: it had no particular use, instead being suddenly and for no apparent reason used a video about the blue version of the Nintendo Switch Lite. Kit Ellis, then a host for the Nintendo show Nintendo minutetalked about it in the new episode of his podcast:
“So we have this video from the Nintendo Switch [Lite] made and there was this new color scheme – and the big debate was whether it’s blue or purple. So we did a color test with a lot of different things, and I remember one of the people editing the video saying, ‘Oh, our design team says they have new artwork from Waluigi where they just point been waiting to release it, so we should use it.'”
“And we said yeah yeah that sounds great and as they edited the video and we watched it cut, I thought it was pretty unusual that they just had new artwork lying around. They always have a plan , that should come out, that’s the date and I thought that doesn’t sound right.”
“And I started to get really worried that we were making an incredible mistake. And that we’re going to leak something or break some embargo from this picture, so I mentally prepared for it when the episode was uploaded. And then it was just this random, tweaked artwork of a main character.”
Kit Ellis is no longer employed by Nintendo, but operates with the former Nintendo employee and Nintendo Minute presenter Krista Yang the above-mentioned podcast on YouTube, in which he now also spoke about the salacious Waluigi artwork.
After the anecdote about it became public, Ellis responded on twitter on it and announced in retrospect: “In the end, the only terrible flaw was the artwork itself.” Now that Ellis is no longer for Nintendo works, the podcaster apparently doesn’t mince his words. Waluigi’s artwork will probably stay burned into his brain forever.
