Ex-Nintendo employee calls Waluigi’s sexy artwork a “huge mistake!”

Waluigi is an iconic video game character, and his popularity may be second only to mascots in the eyes of some fans Mario. In fact, the story of this salacious artwork by Waluigi is almost as strange as the image itself: it had no particular use, instead being suddenly and for no apparent reason used a video about the blue version of the Nintendo Switch Lite. Kit Ellis, then a host for the Nintendo show Nintendo minutetalked about it in the new episode of his podcast:

“So we have this video from the Nintendo Switch [Lite] made and there was this new color scheme – and the big debate was whether it’s blue or purple. So we did a color test with a lot of different things, and I remember one of the people editing the video saying, ‘Oh, our design team says they have new artwork from Waluigi where they just point been waiting to release it, so we should use it.'”

“And we said yeah yeah that sounds great and as they edited the video and we watched it cut, I thought it was pretty unusual that they just had new artwork lying around. They always have a plan , that should come out, that’s the date and I thought that doesn’t sound right.”
