3D display without glasses: Predator Helios 300 is the first gaming notebook with 3D

Acer’s new flagship among gaming notebooks has a unique feature: a stereoscopic 3D display. The SpatialLabs 15.6-inch panel, despite its advanced specifications, does not require 3D glasses, similar to the Nintendo 3DS lenticular display. In default mode, the IPS panel is 4K, but with stereoscopic 3D enabled, it drops down to 1920 x 2160 as it displays two images at once. According to Acer, more than fifty “modern and classic” games will support the 3D display at launch, with more to follow later.

In addition to the new screen, the Helios SpatialLabs Edition gets the latest high-end hardware. The base model comes standard with a Core i9-12900 processor, an RTX 3080 GPU, and 32GB of RAM. The buyer can choose up to 2 TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage in RAID 0 array. The notebook is equipped with a 90 Wh battery and Killer Wi-Fi 6E and has the usual full RGB keyboard with number pad.

Despite the huge battery and power-hungry hardware, the notebook can be charged via USB-C, although the proprietary connector charges faster. The back has said USB-C port, a full-size HDMI port, and a mini Displayport, while the sides have three USB-A ports and a full-size Ethernet port.

Make some room in your pocket and wallet: The 7.5-pound notebook will start at $4,400 when it launches in Q4 — at least in the US. A price for the German market has not yet been officially announced. Until now, the 3D display from SpatialLabs was only found in professional ConceptD notebooks. With the Helios 300, it should now also be suitable for gamers. As soon as the model appears in this country, we will provide a detailed test report.
