New survival game on Steam depicts ultra-modern Finland as a magical place with trolls

With Among the Trolls, Forbidden Games brings a survival game to Steam that combines the real world with that of Finnish folklore. In a forest in Finland you will be drawn into a world full of myths and mysteries.

What is Among the Trolls? Among the Trolls is a survival game by Forbidden Studios based on the Unity Engine and published by 505 Games.

While Finland is in reality one of the most modern countries in the world and particularly stands out in terms of digitization, in Among the Trolls you enter a world full of myths and magic from a Finnish forest.

In Among the Gods you either take on the role of Alex or Anna. After the death of your parents, you move to Finland to visit your grandparents.

On the way, according to Forbidden Games CEO Veli Kokkonen, a huge creature tears you to the bottom of a lake and drags you into an unknown world. In this world, Finnish folklore is vital.

To ensure your survival in this unreal environment, genre-typical elements such as farming, crafting and building a base or home are part of the game.

What sets Among the Trolls apart? The survival game Among the Trolls has an equally exciting and innovative thought where the forest rebels against you if you harvest too many resources.

For example, you bring the forest against you when you cut down trees. In order to calm the forest afterwards, you have to make offerings to it – an aspect that turns typical survival elements on their head.

Furthermore, Among the Trolls is characterized above all for its style. Nature is inspired by Finnish forests, where you will encounter various myths and shamanistic magic.

The whole thing should be accompanied by authentic sounds of Nordic nature and a mixture of old and modern instrumentation.

What is known about the release of Among the Trolls? Among the Trolls will be released in Early Access on Steam. There is currently no information as to whether a console version for Xbox Series S/X or PlayStation 5, for example, is planned for the future.

While there is no exact release date yet, 505 Games announced at the Spring 2022 Showcase on May 17th that the “Early Access” release will take place in 2022.
