23-year-old PS1 classic is now getting trophies (including platinum) and PS Plus is why

Siphon filters were available for the PS1 and PS2 as well as for the PSP. The franchise may return soon.

You can soon earn a platinum in Siphon Filter.

On June 22, the new PS Plus will also start with us. Many should be happy about the PlayStation classics, which we will soon be able to gamble on the PS5 with Premium. We already know that thanks to modern technology, some of these titles will receive various improvements such as a smoother frame rate, a free save function and a rewind option. But what about trophy support? The first studio is positive about the subject.

Siphon Filter gets trophies later

It’s all about this: Bend Studio (Days Gone) has great news for us: we will be able to unlock trophies in their PS1 classic Siphon Filter when it comes out as part of the new PS Plus service. “An explosive start” is the name of the first success. But they are not limited to bronze, silver and gold. Under the tweet, the studio confirms that there will even be a platinum trophy: “Excellent work, agent!”

Are more PS1 games getting trophies?

It’s not official yet, but the probability is extremely high. Sony is striving for coherence in the PlayStation ecosystem, and it’s hard to imagine Sony letting individual companies decide whether or not to support it. In addition, Sony filed a patent for trophy support for emulated games some time ago. It would also make sense from the developer side, as it would encourage more players to catch up on their old games.

What about PS2 and PS3 games? All PS2 titles that have been confirmed for the launch of the new PS Plus have been available on the PS4 and PS5 for some time anyway and have therefore also integrated trophies.

PS3 games are also looking good. The achievements were introduced by Sony shortly after the launch of the PS3 and have been mandatory ever since. That means most games for the console already have trophy support, and the rest are likely to get it now when they release on PS Plus.

These games for PS4 and PS5 are included in the new PS Plus

All PS4 and PS5 games come with trophies anyway, of course. And the lineup for the launch is quite impressive. Ghost Of Tsushima Director’s Cut, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Death Stranding Director’s Cut, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Red Dead Redemption 2 are in the game to name just a handful of highlights. And with Demon’s Souls, Destruction AllStars and Returnal there are even the first PS5 exclusives at launch.

Are trophies a good reason for you to (re)play some PS1 classics?
