Bethesda is doing it again! Skyrim will probably get its 16th version

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is one of those games that are so successful that they are easily released on every platform. But that’s not all: there are now a number of different versions. One of them could now appear again for another platform. At least a newly emerged age rating indicates that the Anniversary Edition will now appear again for the Nintendo Switch.

Anniversary Edition is coming to the Switch

That’s what it’s about: Skyrim was first released in 2011, on the storied November 11th (11/11/11: that’s why Starfield was originally supposed to be released on November 11th, 2022).

Ten years later, to celebrate the anniversary, the Anniversary edition released, but “only” for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X and the PC. Now this version could also be released for the Nintendo Switch.

Is the 16th Skyrim release coming up? Apparently yes. As SwitchBrazil has discovered that there is apparently a new age rating for Skyrim: Anniversary Edition from Taiwan. This strongly indicates that a corresponding publication is no longer too far away. Normally, the age ratings are always given shortly before the launch, when the game is already finished (via: DualShockers).

That’s why this is so absurd: In the meantime, the many different versions and new, individual releases for almost every platform have already developed into a running gag, a meme of their own. GTA 5 has been released time and time again, spanning many generations, but Skyrim tops that easily. The Nintendo Switch version now represents the 16th release – depending on how you count.

We are very precise: The original version of Skyrim was released for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, later also for the Nintendo Switch. This was accompanied by the release of the Special Edition with more stylish graphics. This version was released for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. That brings us to seven releases. The Anniversary Edition for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X and PC brings the count to 12, and then there’s Skyrim VR for PlayStation VR and PC. Last but not least: A Skyrim version has also been released for Alexa. Makes a total of 15 individual Skyrim releases.

Did we forget a Skyrim version? Which version do you like playing the most?
