Saints Row Reboot: More customization options than other games says developer

The Saints Row Reboot has more customization options than other games on the market, the developer says.

Volition’s Kenzie Lindgren and Damien Allen spoke about the Saints Row reboot and shared some new details about the adjustments to the open-world action game.

First, Lindgren talked about the feeling when playing the game. Whether he’s playing missions, strapping the winsguit to his back, or using one of the many customization options. It feels like Saints Row to him.

“I feel like every time I step into the game it feels like Saints Row, whether it’s the customization (because customization is a big part of the game) or the traveling around the city it when putting on the wingsuit and completing the missions. And I think it’s worth trying the game if you’re an older player, but also for a newer player to discover that feeling for the first time.”

Just the customization and customization was in the interview a big issue. Lindgreen, for example, believes that the Saints Row Reboot definitely has more customization options than many other games currently on the market. The experience would therefore also differ from player to player, despite the same cutscenes.

“We definitely have a lot more customization options than any other game on the market.”

“With the level of customization and the level of options and tools that we put at your disposal, two different players will play the game completely differently. And I think that’s something that’s really cool, especially about Saints Row.”

Furthermore, it was decided to address the playable character, who is referred to as “Boss”, with gender-neutral pronouns in the reboot. Anything else would have been too much of a challenge with eight voices to dub, Allen said.

“Trying to bring all of that together with eight different voices and having several different options in there, and then in a way that feels natural. That alone would be a challenge that we are not considering at the moment.”

For in-game accessibility, Lindgren said there are several areas in-game for this, including visual and motor accessibility, as well as camera movement. Care was taken to offer something for each category.
