Overwatch 2: Event announced for June 16th

Game Director Aaron Keller has announced an Overwatch 2 event for June 16th.

After completing the closed PvP beta for Overwatch 2, the Blizzard development team has announced an event for June 16th. This should give even more insights into the development and reveal further details.

On behalf of the team, Aaron Keller thanked everyone who participated in the Overwatch 2 closed beta, noting:

“It’s been so exciting to see our community playing our game. The passion for this game and this universe means so much to us, it always has and always will.”

“Overwatch as a world, as a universe, is deeply personal to the team, something we put our time, creative energy and passion into.”

“It can be scary to make something that means so much to you visible to other people. Especially when they know it’s not finished and you’re waiting for real and legitimate criticism from the players – for what you’ve created.”

The recently closed beta included access to four new maps: Midtown, New Queen Street, Colosseo – along with a new hero, Sojourn.

Blizzard previously confirmed that public beta testing will come later this year with more new maps, heroes, and other features. Perhaps next month’s event will provide new information, if not an update on the PvE mode.
