Because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the local developer GSC Game World had to pause work on Stalker 2. However, during a Q&A session on Discord, a community manager let it be known that development of the first-person shooter has resumed.

Ukrainian developer GSC Game World was busy working on a Stalker 2 making-of video when the Russian invasion of Ukraine began on February 24, 2022. As a result, the development of the much-anticipated first-person shooter had to be paused. However, GSC recently hosted a Q&A session on the game’s official Discord channel, during which a community manager confirmed that Stalker 2 was back in the works.

“But we will definitely continue. After the win.”

Originally, the Ukrainian studio planned to continue Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl only after the war – in their own words “victory”. Like colleagues from Game Infinitus reported, However, the team has since been able to resume work. When asked by a fan about the status of Stalker 2, the community manager “Mol1t” answered unequivocally during the Discord session: “Work is underway.”

However, Mol1t also indicated that GSC Game World will not reveal the Stalker 2 roadmap in advance. So the followers of the first-person shooter series will have to be patient a little longer with regard to news. Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl is currently planned for PC and Xbox Series X/S. The open-world shooter is powered by Unreal Engine 5 and uses motion capture technology to achieve a “high level” of realism.
