Switch Online: New N64 update is here, this is in it

The N64 app for Switch Online users on the Nintendo Switch has received a new update to version 2.3.0.

Not only is Kirby 64 a new addition, there have also been some behind-the-scenes changes.

No patch notes, but info nonetheless

Nintendo typically does not release patch notes for such app updates. This is where well-known dataminers like OatmealDome step in and take a closer look at the updates.

As it turns out, various games have received an update.

With version 2.3.0 of the N64 update, the gamma value of Star Fox 64 was changed to 1.8.

at Dr. Mario 64 and Mario Golf in turn adjusted the renderer settings.

More on the subject:

Few changes at Kirby 64

According to OatmealDome, Kirby 64 has seen “by far” the fewest changes of any game released for the Switch’s N64 app to date.

“Interestingly, Kirby 64 appears to have the fewest number of patches and hacks I’ve seen for this emulator,” writes OatmealDome. “There are the usual renderer settings adjustments, but there are no CPU command patches or hacks.”

Nintendo also usually uses such updates to correct bugs in individual titles. In the past, this was the case with Paper Mario, for example, while The Legend of Zelda: Ocarine of Time had the fog restored.
