Capcom could revive old game series - but which ones?

As game company Capcom hints in a new investor report, the company could revive some of its earlier game series. There were a number of series in the studio’s catalog that have not survived to this day.

In a question and answer part of the paper explained Capcom When asked what the company’s plans are for past game lines in the near future, it says: “We are currently putting together plans for our product line based on market research into demand.”

The game company continues: “In the future, too, we will take the wishes of our customers into account when developing our range of titles.”

So it seems like Capcom is exploring which of the earlier series might be commercially viable or of interest to the gaming industry.

Game studio Capcom has established numerous game franchises since the 80’s, some of which may now return in the future!

In fact, Capcom has been around since 1983 and has an immense number of its own franchises. In addition to ongoing series such as Resident Evil or Monster Hunter, Street Fighter or Devil May Cry, there are also series that have not received a reboot for a long time.

These include, for example, Okami from 2006, which is based on Japanese mythology, the hack-and-slash series Onimusha (even if there was at least one remaster a few years ago), the survival franchise Dino Crisis, the shooter series Lost Planet. The fighting games Darkstalkers or Viewtiful are also series that haven’t had a new update for a long time, if you exclude remasters.

If you look into the more recent Capcom original franchises, for example, you end up with the immersive fantasy RPG Dragon’s Dogma. Exactly which rows Capcom wants to bring back is still unknown

Capcom has been working with Pragmata on a whole new franchise for a long time, which is due to be released in 2023.
