Ominous line on the iPhone lock screen: That’s behind it

offer

Have you ever wondered what the line under the battery indicator on the iPhone lock screen means? We’ll tell you what it’s all about and how you can remove it.

That means the line on the lock screen

The line at the top right of your iPhone’s lock screen tells you two important things: First, it shows you where to swipe down to get to the control center i.e. where you can activate and deactivate WLAN, Bluetooth and other things. On the other hand, the line tells you that you can also open the control center on the lock screen. However, this also entails a certain security risk: because it allows strangers to operate some of the important functions in the control center.

Don’t see the line?

If you don’t see the line on the lock screen, it could be for one of the following reasons: either it doesn’t exist on your iPhone model, or the feature is disabled. There is more information on both points below.

Silent and clandestine publication

It’s actually surprising that so many iPhone users are still wondering what the line on the lock screen is all about. Because the feature is already a few years old. More specifically, the line has been around since iOS 11.2, released in December 2017. The innovations at that time: Apple Cash and faster wireless charging. The line was not mentioned at the time. And so the feature was only gradually discovered.

Here’s how you can remove the line

You can remove or turn off the line on the lock screen if it bothers you. However, this also means that you can no longer open the control center on the lock screen. This only works in unlocked mode. You still want them gone? How to proceed:

  1. In Settings, tap Face ID & Passcode.
  2. Enter your code if prompted.
  3. Scroll down to the “Allow access while locked” section.
  4. Disable the slider next to “Control Center”.

summary

  • The line below the battery indicator shows you where you can access the control center.

  • You can disable the line in the settings. Danger: You will then no longer have access to the control center in lockdown mode.
  • The line has been around since iOS 11.2 and is available on all iPhone models with a TrueDepth camera.
