Don’t we all love the option of customizing our home screen on PS4? Dynamic, customizable backgrounds make this possible. So far we have had to do without this feature on the PS5. Instead, a rumor now says that the option should come to Xbox Series X/S.

Dynamic and customizable themes

It’s all about this: On Sony Last Gen Console we have a wide range of dynamic themes. Comicbook.com speaks of thousands of static and dynamic backgrounds. In addition, there is also the option of completely customizing the start screen with your own screenshots. On the current gen consoles, things are currently looking rather meager in that regard.

This is how it currently looks: So far on Xbox Series X/S we can only use screenshots or choose from a limited selection of dynamic themes. On the PS5 we can customize almost nothing. In the background we always see an image of the currently selected game or app. A quiet melody sounds by default, which can be turned off.

Rumor on Twitter: The attached image shows an “Xbox Dynamic Backgrounds Editor” in which it seems we can make numerous changes. It was also pointed out online that the feature should currently only be available to developers. However, that does not mean that it could also be rolled out to all Xbox owners in the future.

If Xbox Series X/S actually gets a dynamic background editor, I’ll be happy about it. I’ll certainly play around with it then, because individual design adjustments always and everywhere appeal to me.
I definitely want this option on the PS5 as well. From the PS4 I was used to using cool themes with background music. I had to turn off the PS5’s standard menu music very quickly. It’s supposed to be relaxing, but it drove me insane. I immediately missed my God of War theme.
I also usually find the images of the apps or games that appear automatically when I have selected something relatively boring. On the other hand, on the Xbox Series I can at least use my hot chocolate success picture from Visage as a background (don’t ask).

How likely is it that the leak is real? As always with rumours, you should also take this one with a grain of salt. For example, Agiornamenti Lumia previously reported on the Halo Infinite Early Access Bundle. So we can only hope that the information is correct and that the feature will soon be upgraded to the PS5.
