Celebrating one of the best RPGs of the PS3 era, Dragon’s Dogma 2 would be great
With Dragon’s Dogma, one of the best role-playing games of the Playstation 3 era celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2022. Capcom is celebrating the fun with an anniversary trailer and a new website. The only thing missing is the announcement of Dragon’s Dogma 2 to really get us in the mood for celebration.
When Dragon’s Dogma was released for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in December 2012, Capcom’s action role-playing game slumped with the press average okay to good ratings. However, the more RPG fans gave the game a chance, the more positive the reputation of Dragon’s Dogma blossomed, also thanks to the release of the Dark Arisen expansion. Today, the game is clearly one of the best RPGs of the PS3 era.
Still recommended today!
In fact, the strengths of the game are still so fun-enhancing today that the colleagues from the PC games of the Switch port of Dragon’s Dogma gave an 8 out of 10 despite the aging technology. In the opinion box Jan wrote at the time:
“Back in 2012, Dragon’s Dogma (buy now €24.99) to convince. The combat system and the variety through the different classes were very motivating and still are today. In combination with the unique vassal system, the clever AI and the demanding level of difficulty, this is a successful action role-playing game. Due to the lack of a fast travel function, the paths to task objectives are real adventures and stay in the memory for much longer. If you can overlook the technical weaknesses and do without an interesting story, you should take a look at Dragon’s Dogma.”
Happy 10th anniversary!
This year marks Dragon’s Dogma’s 10th anniversary and Capcom officials want to celebrate this milestone. On the one hand with a freshly published anniversary website, which also highlights all the milestones of Dragon’s Dogma, such as the fact that there was a digital comic prologue before the launch. Or that in 2020 one Dragon’s Dogma Netflix series has appeared. On the other hand, Capcom has released a short anniversary trailer:
Then the only thing missing is the announcement of Dragon’s Dogma 2 to really get us in the mood for celebration. In fact, news is currently doing the rounds that Capcom is looking to get old franchises out of the basement, dusting them off and reviving them (via Beyondpixels). Dragon’s Dogma would definitely be our favorite here. Alternatively, we would also take a new Breath of Fire or Dino Crisis.
