No Man’s Sky: Free Leviathan Expedition brings rogue-like elements and whales to the game

As the developers of Hello Games announce, the latest expedition from No Man’s Sky (from 22.99€ at buy) now available for free on PC, Xbox and PlayStation consoles.

As the following trailer shows, the latest update brings space whales and new expeditions to the survival game. One of the most interesting innovations is probably the rogue-like mechanics. Players are locked into a time loop and each death starts over from the beginning. However, the community can work together towards one goal to find better rewards in each loop:

“Difficulty has been turned up in a variety of ways, but every death means a reset of the loop and a new proc-gen loadout. To make it easier to complete the eventual goal of breaking out of the loop with just one life, the community can work together on a persistent, global goal that permanently improves the quality and frequency of upgrade rewards found during each loop. It’s so different from anything players have experienced in No Man’s Sky before and brings a new vibe to the universe.”
