Path of Exile now has meme skins in the shop – and fans are celebrating
The Path of Exile shop is currently getting a lot weirder. And we say that even though there are already spell skins whose projectiles are space cats! But the new meme offers are a step crazier – but the community is happy.
In Path of Exile, players can look forward to lots of fun, challenges and adventures without spending anything – for example in the current Sentinel league. But if you want to spice up your gaming experience, there are countless cosmetic upgrades available that can be bought for real money – completely optional, of course. This includes fiery armor sets, impressive weapon designs and sometimes absurd little things. A corgi as a companion! A clown costume! Or even one Shark Tornado skin for the Cyclone melee skill! But what the developers are currently putting in the shop is a little crazier.
Is this still a microtransaction? Some skins in Path of Exile are only available for $420
Path of Memes: Big Brain Time and Fitness Marauders
Because for the Marauder there is now the skin “Maroider Body Armour”, which is a pun on “Roid”, short for “Steroids”. Appearance is appropriate: Scaling with your Marauder’s Strength attribute, he looks more and more muscular – with a colossal Strength of 1,500 he practically becomes the Hulk with glowing red tattoos:
Anyone who wants to rely more on their brains than on their muscles should get the Superbrain helmet. This is clearly an allusion to the “Galaxy Brain” meme. The developers also used this directly on Twitter to advertise this skin, which is also scalable. It’s practically impossible to wink more:
At the highest level – 1,500 Intelligence – your character has a brightly lit brain that is bursting at the seams, so to speak. But like it a comment from the community sums it up: “This is a first: Being tricked into buying MTX with memes…okay, it worked.”
What do you think of these skins? Are they too over the top for you? Or are the absurd shop offers exactly what optional cosmetic skins should be used for? And more importantly, after strength and intelligence – what should a dexterity skin look like? Tell us your opinion in the comments!
