WoW: Artifact weapons had an advantage - they solved the two-weapon problem

from Susan Brown
As WoW veterans wait for new fodder, more and more players are returning to Azeroth and checking out what the MMO has to offer. Some heroes are painfully aware of the problem that Legion artifact weapons have solved: the need for two good one-handed weapon drops.

WoW heroes are waiting for new game fodder, be it in the form of WoW Patch 9.2.5, in the form of Season 4 or straight away in the form of WoW: Dragonflight – and sorry, the arrival of the latter WoW live server state will take some time to come. Interestingly, one reads more and more frequently on Reddit, among other things, that players are now taking the time to get a taste of Azeroth again after a break – or to set foot in the fantastic Blizzard MMO world for the first time. And one or the other player will notice problems that the developers at Blizzard actually … had once solved.

Need: Two good one-handed weapon drops!

This is the case, for example, with WoW player and Reddit user Individual_Sound, who reactivated his demon hunter about five weeks ago to see what the “end” of Shadowlands looks like. “I’ll be back five weeks,” he writes, “and I have no weapons!”

According to his own statements, Individual_Sound has played 72 Mythic+ dungeons in the meantime, and 47 of them could have dropped a weapon that would have suited his hero’s needs. “I hit item level 270, but I’m still running around with 229 guns. I need TWO.” He finds it quite frustrating that the item level plays a role in getting a taste of PvP and raids – and of course that he seems to have such bad luck with drops. Have you ever had to cope with such a dry spell?

Want: Artifact weapons weren’t such a bad idea…

The WoW veterans, especially those who also have to deal with the problem of finding two good one-handed weapons, may remember the times of WoW: Legion a little more benevolently. Because at that time every hero got his artifact weapons in his hands (i.e. by quest) and everything was fine for the rest of the expansion. Because nobody had to hope for weapon drops or compete with the other players in the raid for good swords, daggers, glaives and the like.

So maybe the folks at Blizzard should come up with a clever idea to mitigate this drop=performance equation? After all, the developers are addressing the issue with Season 4 for WoW (buy now ): Shadowlands with an experiment. As part of the season you can Earn a total of three Confusing Cartel Dinars per Hero, as you defeat fateful bosses. The dinars, in turn, can be exchanged for raid weapons, among other things, with cartel dealers. Depending on how the experiment unfolds, this could be a solution for the future. Do you think so?
