Sony plans to launch a whopping ten Live Service games by 2026. The group revealed this some time ago and shortly after the Bungie takeover. And it doesn’t seem to be long before the first copies appear: According to PlayStation boss Jim Ryan, two of these service games are to be released within this financial year. We know a bit more about it: Both games have not yet been announced, so they are previously unknown titles and Destiny 2 is not one of them.

The Last of Us 2 multiplayer could be out within the next nine months

That’s what it’s about: Sony’s trump cards include the big single-player blockbusters like The Last of Us 2, God of War 2: Ragnarök, Horizon Forbidden West or Ghost of Tsushima. But in the future, online multiplayer titles with a live service focus, such as Destiny 2, from Bungie, the developer studio recently taken over by Sony, are to be added. By 2026, the group even wants to publish ten such games:

After Bungie deal:

Sony plans to release ten live service games by 2026

Two of them coming soon: Obviously, Sony is already serious about this announcement. In a recent investor briefing, PlayStation boss Jim Ryan is said to have stated that two of these service-oriented games will be released within the current financial year 2022 – i.e. by the end of March 2023 at the latest, that’s how long the financial year is.

The Last of Us 2 multiplayer? One of these two games could actually be the long-planned standalone multiplayer offshoot of The Last of Us 2. However, it remains somewhat unclear whether this is already announced or not yet announced. According to Jim Ryan, the two games in question have not yet been officially revealed.

More news about Sony’s plans:

What else is in question? There’s a whole host of options. For example, there is the return of Twisted Metal. This should not only celebrate a comeback with a TV series, but also appear as another game. Otherwise, the Horizon Forbidden West creators are also looking for people for a multiplayer project, and Sony is also planning to release the first Firewalk (Bungie veterans) and Deviation Games (Call of Duty veterans) games (via: VGC).
