A Legend Returns – Obi-Wan Kenobi has been available as a skin in Fortnite since May 27th. But the legendary Jedi Master from Star Wars is missing his weapon.

Updated 05/28/2022: “This is not the weapon you are looking for”. That’s probably how a lot of Star Wars fans felt when they logged into Fortnite on the evening of May 27th. Since 2 p.m. German time, Obi-Wan Kenobi, legendary Jedi and teacher of Luke Skywalker, has been romping about in the Battle Royale item shop. But the new skin, released just in time for the start of the Obi-Wan series on Disney+, is missing a crucial detail: its weapon.

Fortnite: Obi-Wan now in the game – only he can’t swing his lightsaber

Why doesn’t Obi-Wan have a lightsaber? Instead of equipping Obi-Wan with his iconic blue lightsaber as a pickaxe, the popular character was given a bread knife without further ado. The lightsaber hangs beautifully on the Jedi legend’s backpack, but you can’t use it in the game. Too bad, because until recently, players could wield the swords of Luke Skywalker, Kylo Ren, Rey, and Mace Windu in-game to claim an epic victory.

What’s in the Obi-Wan Bundle? Luckily, for 1,600 V-Bucks, you get more than just the brown coat skin and the pathetic bread knife pickaxe. Thanks to the “Desert Gear” back accessory, Jedi Interceptor Glider and the “Obi-Wan’s Message” emote, there’s still a Star Wars atmosphere in Fortnite. Nevertheless, many players would certainly have wished for more from the appearance of the legendary Jedi teacher.

First report from 05/22/2022: Cary, North Carolina – The news about Fortnite has been overwhelming for the past few days. The game from Epic Games is about to end Season 2 in Chapter 3 and new weapons and leaks about events and content are coming every hour. But now the development studio is going one better and bringing Star Wars, one of the most successful franchises of all time, to the Battle Royale. Obi-Wan Kenobi will be making his appearance in the Fortnite item shop very soon.

Fortnite: Epic Games brings Obi-Wan Kenobi and other cosmetics to the item shop

What’s in the shop? Epic Games has gone to great lengths to bring the full breadth of the Force to Fortnite and Star Wars fans. Of course, at the heart of the whole package is Obi-Wan Kenobi’s outfit himself, which players can use to secure the “high ground” in battle. But where there is a Jedi Knight, a clever weapon should not be missing. As a skin for the pickaxe, the outfit with “Obi-Wan’s Blade” gets the matching melee weapon.

There is also a hang glider in the look of a Jedi interceptor, an emote and a new back accessory. So with the complete package you get all these items:

  • Obi-Wan Kenobi Outfit
  • Desert Gear Back Bling
  • Obi-Wan’s Blade Pickaxe
  • Hang Glider “Jedi Interceptor
  • Obi-Wan’s Message Emote

When will Obi-Wan become available? As confirmed by Epic Games, Obi-Wan will be available in Fortnite’s item shop starting May 27th with all of his additional cosmetics. This also confirms the leak for Fortnite Update 20.40, in which Obi-Wan appeared as a possible skin for the Battle Royale a few days ago. However, players could encounter Obi-Wan Kenobi in the game before the official release. On May 22, 2022, the Obi-Wan Kenobi Cup took place in Fortnite, where a few lucky fans were already able to win the skin.

What else is new about Star Wars? Although Obi-Wan Kenobi as a skin is a small highlight for some fans, Star Wars is not only a big topic in Fortnite. The outfit will be released on May 27th to coincide with the release of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney+. In the past few days there have also been new rumors about Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order 2, which according to Jeff Grubb will be subtitled “Survivor”. At the same time, many PS Plus subscribers suspect that Jedi Fallen Order will be free in June 2022.
