Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II: Sony exclusive contract could exist for the next 3 games

Microsoft wants to continue the deal between Sony and Call of Duty in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and the two following titles.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II was officially announced for October 28th and a data miner reportedly found that PlayStation players are again the first to test the beta.

Speaking on Twitter, Tom Henderson wrote: “I believe Sony’s deal lasts the next three games. So if Microsoft agrees with Sony’s existing deal, which they announced, nothing should change until Call of Duty 2025/2026. There is an argument for both sides.”

“I don’t even think Microsoft knows what to do yet,” Henderson replies when asked by another Twitter user what he thinks about console exclusivity.

According to this, the deal would apply to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, Call of Duty: Warzone 2 and the next Call of Duty titles. Microsoft had made it clear in advance that they would like to fulfill Sony’s existing contracts for Call of Duty and that the games will continue to be available for PlayStation in the future. This, in turn, would mean that Xbox Game Pass owners can expect other perks for Call of Duty in the future that Sony hasn’t secured yet.

The future will tell if the existing deal with Sony will continue or if they might be offered a new one by Microsoft.
