Daybreak Marvel MMO is canceled! First screenshots appeared
Work on Daybreak Game Company’s Marvel MMO has been halted by EG7. A graphic artist who contributed to the game posted some screenshots on his Artstation profile.
In November 2021 we reported that an MMO for the Marvel Universe at the DC Universe Online team arises. The project was led by Jack Emmert, who at the time made City of Heroes (also a superhero MMO, released in the US in 2004 and here in Germany in 2004) at Cryptic Studios and a senior director of DC Universe Online at Dimensional Ink Studios.
Early exit by EG7
Dimensional Ink Studios worked on the Marvel MMO for Daybreak Game Company. Daybreak heard again since December 2020 of the EG7 group (Enad Global 7). And it was those in charge of EG7 who did it a few days ago via press releases announced: After a re-evaluation, they decided to stop the developers and redistribute the resources to several other long-term projects. Read: The risk is too high, the effort too high, the genre too expensive. It sucks to develop an MMO.
If you want to get at least a first impression of the Marvel MMO, you should go to the Artstation profile of Ramiro Galan drop by. There you will find some screenshots where you can admire the character creation of the game. For example, you would have had to choose between the X-Men, Avengers, SHIELD or Fantastic Four factions.
The thematically different costumes would have granted you the attributes speed, power and agility. Visually, they wanted to orientate themselves on the style of Spider-Man – Into the Spiderverse. We like the comic-esque look with the speech bubbles and bright colors. Too bad we’ll never play the finished game.
